Jared Diamond's wrong view on environment problems

Some of my readers of Editors letters from René Delavy made the reproach that I only write about criminal acts in politics, Swiss Banks, Mafia organisations and so on. But the big problems in the world would be in the area of ECOLOGY. Right so. However, all I did, to 75 % of my writing in my books was dictated, since I can think, by the recognition that Homo sapiens destructs our planet Earth, with all power of economy, politics, science and culture.
And therefore I have a lot to say about the optimistic view of Jared Diamond. What does he write in fact, this Jared Diamond, in his Bestseller? Let's shorten the story of 650 pages and squeeze the fundamental text.
He travels in the history of the past, Easter Island, Greenland , Vikings and so on and he finds parallel systems of ecologic destruction in our world. But he leaves to the greatest extent out whatever is important to know if we want understand the state of self-destruction in the years at the beginning of the 21st century.
- Never before more poisoned gas was spread in the air every day. Never spread more pollution in our faces. It is in fact a never ending and increasing line to heaven (Book "Linien zum Himmel ziehen"). Why? Because we all applaud to China and India
- Not only George W. Bush tries to increase the destruction of air, water, soil and natural environment. We all do. Holydays to any place in the world, useless conferences by NGOs and Think-tanks in any resort imaginable, CEOs and other manager more in the air than in a quit corner to think about the end of the future for our children.
- All industries and service companies do as if they would try to reduce the empoisoning of our world. In fact they just maximise their profits and shareholder-values. The law of neo-liberalism and of US-globalisation. Stock exchanges are thousand times more important than the life in peace and natural surroundings for the future generations.
- We have transformed all oil and resources that can be easily gained, in deadly gas and in scrap. From now on, raw material and resources of any kind will explode in prices and soon become priceless. Who will then pay these additional costs? Must a poor or middle-class family live under bridges or in little flats in order to drive a car and book holydays in Florida or Bali ?
- The crazy explosion of World's population goes on. Everybody cries heavy tears about less children being brought on Earth, in Italy , Germany , Switzerland and Russia USA , an unborn is worth much more than any intelligent child in Africa , dying just today. I think the world has gone mad. The total population explodes whereas clean water and good food will lessen from year to year. The worst scenario is given in Palestine
But Jared Diamond pretended at a TV-discussion that everything is under control, that people have fully understood the problem, politicians like Bush were nice chaps and Putin does apparently not through away the fortune of hundreds of generations for an apple and an egg. Diamond is full of optimism. The theory of "Limits of growth", after him, was already a heavy stupidity, and the so called "Waldsterben" would never have existed. I invite him to visit the Alps above 1500 meters and look around, then to read some scientist's reports about a hidden disaster with forests all around the Earth. We can also discuss some facts with oceans, emptied from fishes and becoming warmer and warmer - and New Orleans
Jared and all of us - apparently - have not learnt any lesson to the future advantage of our own children. For the money, the managers and their poor workers can NOT eat, for the forthcoming breakdown of all stock exchanges (read my "criminal acts in economy" in my Blog), for the blow up of old age funds due to a gigantic indeptedness of the USA, Europe, Africa, South America - and soon in China and India, with all this we cannot blind our eyes and empty our brains. The world cannot be cured either by NGOs funny maxim of the "Little steps", such as Susan George proposed in her book "Un autre monde est possible si…."
The friendly Jared Diamond certainly wanted to do something special with his bestseller for our comfort. However, he forgot all fundamental areas as mentioned above. And this is a crime in spirit and a wrong philosophy, it damages our view on lived reality. It therefore is a literature of little effect and will soon be forgotten. Where is the difference to J.K. Rowlings "Harry Potter"?
That's all folks for today. If have done what readers demanded from me. Nevertheless, the misery about environment will certainly continue without end. Think of it: Now we are creating every day new facts, with our criminal lifestyle, that might kill our platform Earth before the year 2100.
